My kids love these kid friendly meatballs which is good because they are simple, gluten free, nourishing, generous and delicious! They are cooked in the sauce so no need to fry them first and very budget friendly too.
This recipe is in my book Kids in the Kitchen which I’m having a 2 for 1 sale on right now! Find out more below…
Kid Friendly Meatballs
2 for 1 SALE on my book Kids in the Kitchen is on NOW.
Makes about 20 meatballs
500g good quality mince meat (beef or pork works well)
1/2 an onion finely diced
1 clove of garlic crushed
pinch of freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup of white rice (optional)
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
What to do:
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well with clean hands.
Roll the mixture into balls a bit bigger than a walnut but smaller than a golf ball.
Put the uncooked meatballs on a clean plate while you prepare your sauce.
250mls good quality stock or home made bone broth
750mls of tomato passata
1 teaspoon of dried Italian style herbs
Put all of the sauce ingredients in a large pt that has a lid. Turn the heat to medium and bring the sauce to a simmer.
Carefully drop the meatballs into the sauce, turn the heat down to low and simmer with the lid on for about 30 minutes.
Turn the meatballs once or twice while cooking to ensure they cooke evenly.
