My simple stewed pears are delicious and comforting and will warm you up on these chilly, Autumnal mornings. My children love this healthy, grain free breakfast which can easily be prepared ahead and enjoyed as the weather starts getting cooler.
As the seasons change, so does what we eat. We are beginning to move away from fruit salads and fresh juices and look for more comforting, warming options to energise us for the day ahead. Porridge was always such a staple at our breakfast table, but now that we are following a grain free diet while we heal our guts, slowly cooked fruits like apples and pears have taken their place. My simple stewed pears are delicious served with home made, natural yoghurt or cultured cream and a drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of granola.
How to make Simple Stewed Pears
2 pears, peeled, cored and quartered
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
Put the pears into a medium sized sauce pan with 1/2 cup of filtered water.
Add the cinnamon and vanilla and stir to combine.
Put the saucepan on the stove top over low-medium heat and put on the lid
Simmer gently for around 10 minutes or until the pears are soft, but not falling apart.
Allow to cool slightly before serving immediately, or store in a glass container with lid in the fridge for yo to five days.
How to serve Simple Stewed Pears
We love our simple stewed pears with home made yoghurt and a sprinkle of activated nuts and seeds. You could also serve with cultured cream, coconut yoghurt and Mamacino Granola or toasted coconut flakes.
Simple stewed pears makes a lovely dessert too!
